This walkthrough is for a new builder in [UPDATE!] Obby Creator (Roblox place 2913303231). It follows the developer notes from 6 October 2024 through 9 October 2026, plus the on-screen flow shown in walkthroughs of this same place.
Before you place a part
You need a Roblox account and the official experience. Servers hold 16 players after 9 October 2026 (previously 20). Voice chat and camera are not supported on the game page.
The lobby is a social space. On 9 October 2026 the developer made joins spawn as close to the center as possible. Empty gates show a claim prompt. A 9 October 2026 fix stopped the claim text from staying up after another player had already claimed the gate.
Claim a plot and create an obby
- Join the experience and go to an unclaimed gate. The guide text added on 6 October 2024 reads along the lines of touch to claim the plot.
- Claim the gate, then open Build.
- Create the obby. From 9 October 2026, new players must create their first three obbies manually, and those three are free. Creating another obby costs 60 Gems.
- A new obby is named with your name and "Obby", so you can tell your slot from someone else's.
- When the new obby loads, you can start from a starter obby template added the same day, or build on an empty base. Classic Tree was added as a new premade.
The Play/Build control on the inspect screen plays an animation for a 20 second loading cooldown. Wait for that cooldown instead of spamming the button.
Edit, then playtest
Enter edit mode. Use Add to place parts. The 9 October 2026 update replaced the move, resize, and rotate handles. They are meant to be easier on mobile and console, and easier when the part is far away. You can set a custom handle color in Settings.
Leave edit mode and run the course yourself. You spawn 7 studs above a spawn point, a change from 6 studs on 6 October 2024, so you are less likely to load inside the baseplate. Parts and players that fall are destroyed at height -100 after 9 October 2026 (previously -50).
Cash is shown while you are editing, not during normal play, as of that same update. Read the price on the part you are about to place. On 19 January 2026 the developer said cash rate was one of the systems under experiment, so a number remembered from an older guide may be wrong.
Two settings that hide tools
Simple Properties hides advanced fields. The developer called this out on 21 November 2025 for the new particle flipbook settings: turn Simple Properties off to see them. The same pattern applies to other properties that only appear in the full list.
If a part will not do what a tutorial promised, open its properties with Simple Properties off before you assume the part was removed.
When the first course is playable
Give it a clear name, set up to the genre slots the load screen offers, and let another player run it. Likes are both a leaderboard signal and a part-limit milestone. The next pages cover Obby IDs, the part-limit trophy, and the October 2026 parts.
A May 2025 walkthrough of this place showed two genre slots. On 9 October 2026 the developer added the Lyrical genre and removed the Other genre section. Check the load screen for the genres available on the day you publish.
